Cates Control Systems Announces New Headquarters and Manufacturing Facility in Wylie, Texas.

Wylie, Texas – October 31, 2025 – The Wylie Economic Development Corporation (Wylie EDC) is pleased to announce that Cates Control Systems, a leading provider of process automation and control solutions, has selected Wylie, Texas, for the construction of its new corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility.

The company plans to invest approximately $8.5 million, build a 60,387-square-foot facility, and create and retain more than 120 jobs in the Wylie community. Construction is expected to begin soon on their recently acquired property at 608 John Yeager Way, with an anticipated completion date in mid-2026. The new facility will be the most recent addition to the FM 544 Gateway Addition, a major commercial corridor for the city.

“Cates Control Systems is proud to invest in Wylie and become part of a community that shares our values of integrity, innovation, and partnership,” said Emily Smith, Executive Vice President of Cates Control Systems. “Our new facility will allow us to better serve our customers while providing a strong foundation for the continued growth of our team.”

Chris Smith, the President and Owner of Cates Control Systems, stated, “Having lived in Wylie for over 45 years, we are excited to finally get to move our business into our community. My wife Emily and I have already had three of our daughters graduate from Wylie High, and our youngest is currently at Davis Intermediate. We love Wylie and can hardly wait to have our corporate headquarters here, allowing us to invest even more in our own community, which will include offering opportunities for students in Wylie ISD and Collin College, as well as making jobs available for those wanting to work closer to home.”

Wylie Mayor Matthew Porter shared, “We are excited to welcome Cates Control Systems to Wylie. Their investment represents another milestone in the city’s ongoing efforts to attract high-quality employers, strengthen our local economy, and continue transforming key corridors like FM 544 into destinations for business and innovation.”

Wylie EDC Board President Blake Brininstool added, “This project reflects the type of meaningful investment that strengthens Wylie’s position as a destination for advanced manufacturing and engineering firms. Our board is proud to support the continued redevelopment of this corridor and the quality jobs that Cates brings to our community.”

Cates Control Systems’ decision to invest in Wylie reinforces the city’s growing reputation as a destination for advanced manufacturing, technology, and engineering firms. The project aligns with Wylie EDC’s mission to attract and retain primary employers, expand the local tax base, and enhance job opportunities for the community.
