Small Business Week 2023

Wylie, Texas – April 6, 2023. The Wylie Economic Development Corporation, along with local businesses and community resource partners, announce this year's programs and activities in celebration of Small Business Week. During Small Business Week, citizens will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of week-long events designed to focus attention on our local entrepreneurs and small businesses.

This page will serve as your guide to local programs and activities happening throughout Small Business Week. We will keep you informed about the #IShopWylie Social Media Campaign and update you on any changes to planned events.

Join in the fun! Use #ishopWylie on Facebook and Instagram and keep up with local promotions and special events!  

Here's how it works:

  • Dine or Shop in Wylie

  • Post a photo or video on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #ishopWylie 

  • Pick up your Wide-Awake Wylie t-shirt at Local Businesses or Wylie City Hall

The contest runs from Sunday, April 30 through Sunday, May 7. Make sure you tag the City of Wylie on Facebook @WylieTexas and Instagram @WideAwakeWylie and Wylie EDC @WylieEDC too to get a Wide- Awake Wylie T-shirt!

Taste of Wylie
Monday, May 1st - 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Olde City Park

You won't want to miss the 2023 Taste of Wylie! It's bigger and better than ever before.  Come join in the fun at Olde City Park.  Sample a variety of food from more than 30 local area restaurants, food trucks and caterers. All funds raised support area food banks serving those in need in our community.  Advanced tickets are encouraged.  Proceeds support area food pantries - Wylie Community Christian Care Center, Amazing Grace Food Pantry, 5 Loaves Food Pantry, and Hope for the Cities.

Wylie Downtown Merchants Meeting
Tuesday, May 2nd - 8:30 am to 9:30 am

Social Media Rescue
Tuesday, May 2nd - 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

If recent business challenges have taught us one thing, it's that we need to use all tools available to us to create awareness for the products and services we offer. Come and learn how the Social Media Rescue team is helping businesses take Digital Marketing to the next level. Experts in developing content, managing engagement, and evaluating analytics will provide an overview of the program and answer your questions. So, join us for an evening of education and networking. Picnic on Ballard
Thursday, May 4th - 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
On the Lawn between the Wylie Chamber of Commerce (307 N. Ballard Ave) and the Welcome Center at Brown House (301 N. Ballard Ave) 

No tickets required.

Bring Your Own Blanket

Bring - or Buy onsite - Your Own Picnic dinner! Picnic Box dinners and treats will be available for purchase (Adults $8, Kids $6) or bring your family favorites from home and meet us on the lawn between The Welcome Center at Brown House and the Wylie Chamber of Commerce for an ' Old-Fashioned Family Picnic'. Music, games, and fun for the whole family on North Ballard.  

Wylie Chamber of Commerce will host an Open House during this event. Learn more about the programs they offer to help our businesses grow and thrive at the Wylie Chamber

The Welcome Center at Brown House will provide tours of the Historic home.  Come discover the rich history it holds. Hope to see you and your family there!

Cinco de Mayo
Friday, May 5th

Celebrate in style for this year's Cinco de Mayo and get the best deals in town.  Visit Discover Wylie to find the best deals and specials from our many fabulous restaurants. Lots to choose from to 'keep it local' this Cinco de Mayo!

Enjoy a Kentucky Derby-themed evening with silent auction benefitting the horses and riders at Texas Therapeutic Riding Center. Come out for a festive evening of fun, food, and spirits. Texas Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit organization that serves individuals with diverse needs allowing them to experience the healing power of the horse through equine assisted activities and therapies. Pedal Car Race
Sunday, May 6th - 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Downtown Wylie (Ballard Avenue)
Come out to the Wylie 500 Pedal Car Race in Historic Downtown Wylie. Children, ages 2-5, race old-time pedal cars down "Main Street Wylie" (aka Ballard Ave).  Winners will receive trophies in two age brackets. Bring the family to watch your favorite race car driver and create memories you and your children will cherish for a lifetime. The $15 registration includes a t-shirt, and proceeds support area Special Olympics.
