Small Business Week 2021

Wylie, Texas – April 12, 2021. In celebration of Small Business Week 2021, the Wylie Economic Development Corporation (Wylie EDC), in cooperation with local businesses and our various community resource partners announced a week-long series of events designed to showcase the small businesses and entrepreneurial spirit right here in Wide Awake Wylie.

This page will operate throughout Small Business Week to serve as your guide to various local events and keep you informed about the #IshopWylie Social Media Campaign.

Use #IshopWylie on Facebook and Instagram to win amazing prizes and keep up with local promotions and special events! 

How it works:

  • Eat or Shop in Wylie

  • Post a photo or video on Facebook OR Instagram using the hashtag #IshopWylie

  • Stop by City Hall, 300 Country Club Rd., show us your post and get a FREE Wylie t-shirt.

All #IshopWylie participants willl also be entered to win a GRAND Prize. The contest runs from Sunday, May 2 through Sunday, May 9th. Make sure you tag the City of Wylie on Facebook @WylieTexas and Instagram @WideAwakeWylie and Wylie EDC @WylieEDC too!

We will continue to add events online, but please follow the links below to the host organization's website and corresponding registration pages. Various Facebook Events have been created, so please make sure to follow each group online for additional information. This year's Small Business Week activities include:

Sip & Shop
Saturday, May 1st
Noon to 6:00 pm

Celebrate an early Cinco de Mayo with Landon Winery and 12 participating merchants.  Each stop will include a wine paired with an appetizer and a special "sipper deal" for ticket holders.  Each ticket includes a souvenir glass, wine, food and a fun afternoon exploring Downtown Wylie.  Turn your completed ticket in at Landon Winery to be entered into prize drawings.  Prize winners will be announced on Monday, May 3rd.  FB Event Registration: https://fb.me/e/4eEvwPVgu

Pedal Car Race
Sunday, May 2nd
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Come out to the Wylie 500 Pedal Car Race in Historic Downtown Wylie. Children, ages 2-5, race old time pedal cars down "main street" (aka Ballard Ave).  Winners will receive trophies in 2 age brackets and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics. Taste of Wylie
Monday, May 3rd
11:00 am to 1:00 pm

The Taste of Wylie is moving outdoors this year to Olde City Park.  Sample a variety of food from local area restaurants and support the Wylie Community Christian Care Center. Young Professionals Event
Tuesday, May 4th
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

The Wylie Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to join other young professionals for a casual event on the patio at Fish N' Tails at 330 S. Hwy 78.  All area professionals, ages 21 - 45, are welcome and, if you haven't tried Fish N' Tails, you are in for a treat!  Come help us celebrate Small Business Week and meet other area professionals for an evening of networking. Stronger Together Women's Conference
Thursday, May 6th
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

The Wylie Chamber of Commerce has assembled 4 top women business leaders for an afternoon of networking, education, and professional development.  Moderated by Elizabeth McCormick, CSP, a former US Army Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot, this is sure to be an exciting and motivating program. Join us in the comfort of B&B Theater to explore the unique leadership skills and talents vital to success.  This event will be both virtual and live with discounted early bird registration that includes a SWAG box with a bottle of wine from Landon Winery, and a book from each speaker. The Borough
Friday - Saturday, May 7th & 8th

Looking for a fun night out?  Visit The Borough for Food, Crafts, and great music.  Friday night features FUN karaoke style,  Saturday, from 9 am to 3 pm, stop by to purchase locally grown and sourced produce, cottage industry craft vendors, artisans, and food vendors.  Saturday night features live music as you stroll through Historic Downtown Wylie.  For more information, please visit the FB Page.
