Small Business Week 2022

Wylie, Texas – April 19, 2022. In celebration of Small Business Week 2022, the Wylie Economic Development Corporation (Wylie EDC), in cooperation with local businesses and community resource partners, announced a week-long series of events designed to showcase  small businesses and entrepreneurial spirit right here in Wide Awake Wylie. 

This page will operate throughout Small Business Week to serve as your guide to various local events and keep you informed about the #IShopWylie Social Media Campaign.

Use #IshopWylie on Facebook and Instagram and keep up with local promotions and special events!  

Here's how it works:

  • Dine or Shop in Wylie

  • Post a photo or video on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #IshopWylie 

  • Pick up your Wide Awake Wylie t-shirt at City Hall

The contest runs from Sunday, May 1 through Saturday, May 7. Make sure you tag the City of Wylie on Facebook @WylieTexas and Instagram @WideAwakeWylie and Wylie EDC @WylieEDC too to get a Wide Awake Wylie t-shirt!

Pedal Car Race
Sunday, May 1st
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Come out to the Wylie 500 Pedal Car Race in Historic Downtown Wylie. Children, ages 2-5, race old time pedal cars down "main street" (aka Ballard Ave).  Winners will receive trophies in two age brackets. Bring the family to watch your favorite race car driver and create memories you and your children will cherish for a lifetime. The $15 registration includes a t-shirt and proceeds support area Special Olympics. Taste of Wylie
Monday, May 2nd
11:00 am to 1:00 pm

The Taste of Wylie is back!  Come join in the fun at Olde City Park.  Sample a variety of food from 25 local area restaurants and support the area food banks who serve those in need in our community.  Advanced tickets are encouraged.  Proceeds support area food pantries - Wylie Community Christian Care Center, Amazing Grace Food Pantry, 5 Loaves Food Pantry, and Hope for the Cities.

Wylie Downtown Merchants Meeting

The Wylie Chamber of Commerce has assembled top women business leaders for an afternoon of networking, education, and professional development.  Moderated by Elizabeth McCormick, CSP, a former US Army Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot, this is sure to be an exciting and motivating program. Join us at Collin College from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Explore unique leadership skills and survival strategies for Women in Business.
