Wylie Economic Development Corporation Celebrates Local Entrepreneurs During National Small Business Week
WYLIE, TX – May 5, 2025 – In recognition of National Small Business Week (May 5–11, 2025), the Wylie Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) proudly celebrates the vital role that small businesses play in shaping Wylie’s economy, culture, and community identity.
On April 22, the City of Wylie hosted a Small Business Reception and Mayoral Proclamation in collaboration with the Wylie Chamber of Commerce, Wylie Downtown Merchants Association, and the Wylie Economic Development Corporation. The event brought together local business owners, elected officials, and community leaders to formally recognize the contributions of Wylie’s small businesses ahead of National Small Business Week.
“Small businesses are the heart of our community,” said Jason Greiner, Executive Director of the WEDC. “They create jobs, build local wealth, support our schools and nonprofits, and foster the strong sense of identity that makes Wylie such a special place. During Small Business Week—and every week—we are proud to stand alongside them.”
In addition to local events, the City of Wylie is encouraging residents to support small businesses by participating in the #ishopwylie campaign. This community-wide initiative promotes shopping locally and sharing the experience on social media to showcase the unique offerings of Wylie’s businesses.
The WEDC continues to support small business success through a variety of initiatives, including infrastructure investment, downtown revitalization, business retention and expansion (BRE) efforts, and entrepreneurship development. The organization works closely with local and regional partners to ensure that Wylie remains a welcoming place for new and existing businesses to grow and thrive.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to shop local, support Wylie’s entrepreneurs, and celebrate the small businesses that help make our community exceptional.
For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week (NSBW), which acknowledges the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. National Small Business Week 2025 will take place May 4-10, and SBA will officially recognize their hard work, ingenuity, and dedication, including their contributions to the economy.
